Provision of a Combined Naval, Lilitary and Air Force Hospital at Hong Kong, Linute 5 of the 19th Leeting)
The Chairman having read a letter from the
Admiralty (M.4763/27 dated 26th March, 1929) suggesting
that this question be further considered by the Committeo,
Sir Vincent Baddeley informed the Meeting that the Board
of Admiralty were in favour of and would support
amalgamation if it were found to be possible. From
recent information it was clear that some change in the
Naval Hospital arrangements at Hong Kong were inevitable
because, owing to the unsuitability of the present site,
the hospital is uneconomical, difficult to administer and
surrounded by undesirable native tenement blocks. In
addition the present hospital is sited on very valuable
ground which the Colonial Government desires to acquire
and has even offered ground for a new hospital at
Stubbs/
